LIGHT Specification Sales Position – San Diego

Position Synopsis:

We are seeking a candidate with outside sales experience working with Lighting Designers, Architects, Engineers, and/or Commercial Interiors firms. Experience with Electrical Contractors or Distributors in San Diego is a plus.

This is a consultative sales role, presenting architectural, utility and decorative lighting products and lighting controls solutions for specification. This is done by relationship building and product education for an assigned account list that includes San Diego County and Southern Orange County.  You will be inheriting an existing pipeline of business, as well as developing new business.

This role requires regular in-territory travel both independently and with manufacturer sales managers. It is a dynamic work environment with the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across many disciplines ranging from commercial office, hospitality, luxury residential, light commercial, industrial and multi-family projects. Ability to set your own schedule and work from your home office. Occasional overnight, out-of-territory travel to factories (with and without clients) and to trade shows, all company sponsored.

Ideally qualified candidate possesses the following attributes:

Lighting industry experience, at least 3 years.

Reside in either San Diego County or South Orange County, be willing to relocate if not.

Attention to detail and customer oriented.

Keen sense of urgency and ability to qualify what is immediate from what can be scheduled.

Comfortable cold calling potential clients and presenting in front of a group.

Proficient in Office 365, Share Point, CRMs, Google Docs, and experience with Dropbox.

An understanding of California Title 20, Title 24 and JA8; familiarity with local electrical building codes a plus.

Read and understand Blueprints/electrical schedules.

Customer relationships in the San Diego Lighting Specification Community a plus but not essential.

Lighting background in specification or distribution sales a plus.

College Degree a plus but not mandatory.

Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
